What To Expect At Your First Appointment
Your first appointment will typically be the longest. It will range from 1 1/2 - 2 hours and will include a thorough intake and physical exam if necessary. Your practitioner will ask you a number of questions in regards to your diet, level of fitness or exercise, your sleep, digestion, bodily functions, family history, and other pertinent questions regarding your specific health issues. Afte the intake, the practitioner will look at your tongue, take your pulse, and do an abdominal palpation. All of these tools are used to come up with a diagnosis for a treatment. At Meridian Acu Health, you will be treated on the front of the body as well as the back, and will end with a bit of massage. Your treatment will include needling, and may also include moxibustion, gua sha, or cupping. Nutritional counseling is also available. You will be ina private room with soothing music if desired, and a relaxing atmosphere.
Before coming to your appointment, please make sure you have had a small meal or that your stomach is not empty and that you are well hydrated. Please also wear comfortable clothing that can expose your arms and legs easily for palpation and for needling.
